No 10 (Westminster House)

C18 mill-house. 2 storeys and attic. 4 windows and 2 dormers. Painted brick. Tiled roof. Glazing bars intact. Doorway had engaged columns and pediment, since removed.
Lukely Brook flows into Newport parallel to the Mall. At Wilver Road you see the stream at the point where it once entered Westminster Mill Pond, a beautiful lake at the bottom of the gardens on Caesar Road. It is now a modern housing development.
Westminster Mill was a fulling mill which processed cloth made from local wool. The building was originally built in 1773 , now converted into private residences.
